Technology Allowance

Once a year, FSP Realty will provide you with a technology allowance. This will help you acquire technology that you would need by providing you with $1,500 to help contribute to the technology you would need. Everyone needs a notebook PC. If you are the agent, or maintenance, you would be required to have a smartphone, and a SIP? client. With your notebook, you would be required to set up a work profile. The work profile will allow you to separate personal from work, and with the work profile, you should be able to log into the company’s LAN? via a VPN? setting. This work profile must be secured, and will require either a password, or biometrics to log into the work profile. This is in case you should lose your computer, or a bad actor steals it. The NDA? will require that you do not disclose things about the realty company, and not having this work profile locked down will be a violation of that NDA.

The computer can be of any Operating System (except ChromeOS), but you may have to install an office suite that supports, and saves in Open Document Format. If you are unsure if your Office Suite does that, then you should consider installing LibreOffice. Any Linux OS? will have LibreOffice installed already. Mac and Windows users will be able to go to LibreOffice‘s website to download and install LibreOffice. The system requirements are minimal, and it would likely be that your computer will be able to handle the application.

All .odt files on the file server will allow for editing, but not copying. .pdf files are intended to be read only. By storing all of the files on the file server, it assures that there is no second copy on an employee’s computer. This is intended to assure that everyone has access to the most up to date file. If you are creating a new file from scratch, you would need to email? the document to me (frank-pilone@fsp.homes), and I will review the work, make any edits, and add the file to the server.

You can choose the technology allowance to acquire a laptop. You can not take a full desktop with you to work, and back. With that in mind, a notebook PC is essential. $1,500 should be enough to acquire a PC in any preferred OS. You should use a computer with an OS you are familiar with. If you are proficient in Windows, then you should consider a Windows notebook. Keep in mind, there aren’t many quality Windows PCs that are less than $1,500.

If you are no longer working within 3 months of receiving a technology allowance, the the $1,500 provided will be deducted from your last paycheck. It is good to make sure you have intentions on remaining employed with FSP Realty before taking on a technology allowance.
